Front Tooth Dental Implant: A Five-Year Follow-Up
A Result Worth Following
Five years after treatment, this front tooth dental implant continues to look healthy and stable. We will keep monitoring it during routine dental visits, just as we would any other implant or restored tooth.
For patients considering a front tooth implant in Redding, CA, cases like this are helpful because they show more than just the immediate before and after. They show what the results will look like years down the road: when planning, surgical care, restorative dentistry, and patient maintenance all come together.

Why Front Tooth Implants Can Be Challenging
One of the most rewarding parts of implant dentistry is being able to look back years later and see how well a case has held up. This patient came back to our office for a five-year follow-up after receiving a front tooth dental implant, and the result is a great example of what we hope to see long term: healthy gum tissue, stable bone levels, and a restoration that continues to blend naturally into the smile.
This case was completed in partnership with Team Perio here in Redding, California. Dr. Eric Blasingame handled the surgical portion of the case, while we focused on the restorative side — making sure the final implant crown looked natural and fit comfortably within the patient’s smile.
Replacing a front tooth with a dental implant is different from replacing a tooth farther back in the mouth. The implant has to function well, but it also has to look natural in one of the most visible areas of the smile.
The position of the implant, the shape and thickness of the gum tissue, the surrounding bone, the color and shape of the neighboring teeth, and the design of the final crown all have to work together. Even small differences can be noticeable when we are dealing with a front tooth.
That is why these cases often benefit from careful coordination between the restorative dentist and a periodontal or surgical specialist.
Dental Implants in Redding, California
At Nelson Family Dental, implant dentistry and cosmetic dentistry are part of our everyday practice. We regularly work with specialists in the Redding area when a case benefits from a team approach, including our colleagues at Team Perio.
If a front tooth needs to be extracted, planning ahead can be especially important. The position of the implant, preservation of the bone and gum tissue, temporary tooth options, and the design of the final crown can all affect the eventual cosmetic result.
Every situation is different, so our first step is usually to evaluate the tooth, the surrounding bone and gums, the patient’s bite, and the overall smile before deciding on the best treatment sequence.
